H-games (or, more properly, eroge, an abbreviation of erotic game) are Video Games with sex or heavyFanservice in them.

Though there are some examples of eroge in nearly every genre, the most common forms are the Dating Sim (especially in the early examples of the genre) and the Visual Novel (more popular in recent years). Also common are 3-D simulators like Artificial Girl, which throw out the plot entirely and leave in only the bare minimum of Dating Sim elements in favor of more Jiggle Physics.

Although the term 'H-game,' literally translatable as 'pervert game,' would suggest otherwise, the erotic content is sometimes about as important as similar content in an R-rated film. Many games tend to have only have one sex scene at the end after hours of play and in a large number sex scenes can be disabled by menu options. As a result, many are re-released with said content cut for the sake of reaching a wider audience. There is a large crossover between Visual Novel and Porn with Plot because of the more story-oriented nature of Visual Novels.

In general, the protagonists will be one of certain specific character types, and only rarely if ever generic and faceless. Nice Guys and Troubled, but Cute characters who may be flawed or even somewhat jerks with a good heart can be found in games with a lighter tone. The Handsome Lech is also a popular character archetype that is rarely portrayed negatively. Darker games may employ an unlikeable jerkass who changes for the better or for the worse, and some may even use a Villain Protagonist, or someone not human and subject to Blue and Orange Morality. In either case, completely devoid of morals.

These games popularized, largely through Visual Novel works, the Netorare genre.

The story takes place in the far future. A huge mass of energy called “Planet of Destruction” suddenly appears near Mars. The planet affects the Earth and causes unusual weather and diastrophism. Triggered by them, numerous wars and terrorist attacks occur and the world critically gets damaged. But it’s not actually a sign of destruction yet. Only one hundred years left. The human beings plan to get out of the Earth to avoid extinction. There are two plans. One of them is to form the World Integrated Government. The second one is called “Felix Plan”. Humans now need to invent a new technology to live in the outer space, but they have only one hundred years. Therefore, they first invent a new kind of creature called Felix by manipulating genes. Ninty-nine years later…. There is a Felix girl who works as a main member of the Escape from Earth Plan. She, who devotes her whole life to this plan, now completes her all works and decides to stay on the Earth for the rest of her life. One day, a boy is sent to her place. His mission is to protect the girl. The story starts when they meet…
